Endodontics or root canal is a procedure which removes the inflamed or infected pulp tissue and replaced with a filler material that prevents leakage of fluid into the inner portion of the tooth.
It is necessary in pieces with deep decays, traumas, bruxism, advanced periodontal disease or complementary crown or bridge treatments. It is a procedure carried out by an Endodontics Specialist with the knowledge, training and necessary equipment to achieve high percentages of success. The treatment is always carried out with local deep anesthesia because it intends to be painless. This treatment can prevent the tooth to be removed.
Once the Endodontics is carried out, the tooth should be immediately restored or in a period of time not less than 8 days to avoid contamination or fractures.
